- Economic data suggesting how severe the slowdown in global growth continues to haunt markets. Although initial data was broadly in line with expectations, it is the duration which troubles markets. Speculating when the economy will return to any sense of normality is fraught with danger. The forthcoming effect of a slowdown in U.S. consumer spending following unprecedented jobless claims will not yet be felt for some time.
- Spreads have widened during the week. Deals have continued to close which were close to doing so before the Covid-19 pandemic. However, new deals are few and far between. Although traders still have something to work with in the meantime, going forward, there will be slim pickings.
