Albertsons says Kroger is the key to its survival. In federal court Wednesday, Albertsons Chief Executive Vivek Sankaran said that the supermarket chain will have to consider closing stores or laying off workers if a judge rejects Kroger’s planned $20 billion takeover. The “grocery business is a zero sum game in America,” said Sankaran.
